Mat-Su Plunge / Santa Cops & Heroes Inter Agency Challenge Trophy
The Santa Cops & Heroes organization will benefit from the fundraising efforts of the Mat-Su Sertoma Club's 2013 Mat-Su Plunge. In an effort to increase the fundraising efforts from within the Santa Cops & Heroes organization, an inter-agency challenge was issued. The Challenge: if you participate in the Santa Cops & Heroes organization in any fashion, you are challenged to have the most pledge money. The Santa Cops & Heroes plunger raising the most money will take one year of bragging rights and this beautiful large trophy provided by Straub Strategies to your station for one year. Each year the winners name and station will be added to the plaque within the trophy.
The smack talk between police departments has begun! Where will this trophy call home?
Will the trophy go to Palmer Police Department, perhaps one of our Alaska State Trooper detachment, maybe Wasilla Police Department? Fire Station 61, 62,63,64,65 are all competitive and I know that station 61 has a beautiful trophy case just waiting to hold this trophy. There are a few ambulance drives and EMT's who just might seek up and claim the trophy! What about those in the Explorer program? Yes! They too are qualified to claim the trophy! The Mat-Su Sertoma Club thanks all of our First Responders; thank you for serving and protecting us. We hope you enjoy participating in the 2013 Plunge, the original Valley dip! and we look forward to awarding this trophy to an exceptional fundraising member of your station.
Diana visits Bob and Mark!
Hey hey! Did you find your way here after listening to Bob and Mark this morning? Are you wanting to fundraise with them? It's easy!
Each jumper needs to raise $100 to jump... every little bit helps!
Fill out the form below and all donations will be tallied together as "Fundraising with Bob and Mark!"
Hey Jumpers! Read this!
Things to think about/do/plan for etc. annnnnnnd anything else Candace thinks you might need to know:
#1: What do you want the announcer to say when you take your leap? You'll get a 3x5 card with your name on it that goes directly to the announcer. Think about what you want said.. and then visit us at Pre Registration (During the Ice Hole Cutting - February 15 from 9am-5pm) get your card filled out and ready to go!
#2: Bring a change of clothes, and a towel if you'd like. Towels will be provided on site by Alaska Club, and need to be returned. Make sure you bring a warm coat to enjoy all of the festivities too!
#3: Think about wearing a pair of shoes to jump. Some do, some don't, but I venture it might be easier on the feet if they've got a sole under them.
#4: Jumpers that are under 18: You will need to have a parent on site for the event. Your parent will need to register with you and provide photo ID and sign a Parental Consent Waiver.
#5: If you are collecting cash and checks make sure you have a Donation Tracking Form filled out and ready to by verified. This helps us move registration along MUCH FASTER! We appreciate it!
#6: During the Event: Be ALERT! Know your jumper number and prepare accordingly. Listen for your number to be called and be ready to jump!
#7: After you jump, enjoy the hot tub for 2-5 minutes, and then let other plungers have their turn.
#8: Pack it in, pack it out! We find a lot of personal belongings after this event.. and its almost impossible to reunite them with their owners. Avoid this by keeping an extra eye out for your things.
#9: Day of Registration starts at 10am on the 16th - so be there and be prepared!
#10: Pre-Registration will be taking place at the Mat Su Resort, Friday February 15 from 9 am to 5 pm. (Pre-Registration is not mandatory. But if you happen to be available, we'll be at the resort ready to take in your donations, get your forms signed, fill out your jumper card, etc.)
#11: Keep your wristband on ALL DAY. Many areas are "jumpers only" and your jumper number will be listed on your band.
#12: If you are jumping along with friends or in a team, REGISTER TOGETHER. Have your whole group ready to register so that you can get consecutive numbers.
That's it! We can't wait to see you there! THIS SATURDAY!
Questions regarding how much to raise…
The FAQ are picking up the pace, so lemme see if I can answer some of those here!
Our commonly asked questions are..
Q: How much do I have to raise?
A: Each jumper needs to raise $100. If you jump as a team, you need to raise a total of $100 x the number of jumpers you have. 8 jumpers = $800.
Q: What time do I need to be there Saturday?
A: Registration starts at 10! Be there to sign your waivers, have your donations tallied, and get your jumper number assigned to you. If you are jumping with a team, we ask that ALL team members register together.
Q: Why is my name not listed with my team?
A: Whew! This is a lot of work. I'm working daily to maintain the listings, but if you signed up weeks ago and aren't listed or haven't heard from me, get in touch! We'll make sure you're all set. If you signed up in the last week, I may just be having a hard time keeping up with the load. All is not lost though! If anything, make sure you are ready to go the morning of... we'll make sure you get a spot and that you're donations are counted!!
If you have other general questions, the easiest way for me to answer them is by email. candace@matsuhearing.org
Keep your eyes open, I'll be adding info here over the next couple days!
Pre-Registration!
Announcing... Pre Registration during the Ice Hole Cutting!
Help us make day-of registration go much faster!
This year we are offering pre-registration February 15th, from 9am to 5pm at the Mat Su Resort.
Mat Su Sertoma will be there all day prepping the Resort and cutting the ice hole... and we'll be available to total your funds and get your waivers signed. This will help the morning of the 16th go much faster by having your donations totaled and most of the paperwork out of the way. Come and meet the Sertomans, watch the ice hole cutting, get your donations tallied, and maybe have a drink or a snack... its a great way to spend a Friday afternoon! And of course, we'd love to get to know some of our jumpers! Come out and tell us what convinced you this was a good idea! Ha!
Powder Ridge Productions will be filming the set up and ice hole cutting during the day.
Alaska Spa Technologies will be setting up their hot tub (thanks guys!!)
A Major Thanks to LakeShore Bar and Grill at Wasilla Resort (Mat Su Resort) for Hosting!
**Note: Parental Consent forms must be signed on site the morning of the jump. Parents must be present with ID for children under 18 to jump.
